MARIA ZAIB

About me

Profession
I am a government school teacher and teach biology and chemistry at the secondary level.
Province
I belong to kotli Azad Jummu and Kashmir, Pakistan. It is one of the most beautiful places of Pakistan. It is called Paradise on the Earth. It is the southernmost political entity within the Pakistani-administered part of the former princely state of Kashmir and Jammu. It borders the present-day Indian-controlled state of Jammu and Kashmir to the east (separated from it by the Line of Control), Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to the west, Gilgit–Baltistan to the north, and the Punjab province to the south. With its capital at Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir covers an area of 13,297 square kilometres (5,134 sq mi) and has an estimated population of about four million.
Family
I am living with my parents. I have two brothers and four sisters. My father is a retired forest officer. My mother is a housewife. Five of my siblings areassociated with the teaching profession.
Personal Interest
I am a teacher and have a deep interest in seeking new ideas and techniques. I am also very much interested in art and designing especially dress designing. I like traveling with my family. I love to spend time with my friends.
Goal
As I belong to a rural area, the people have no interest in education especially in educating their girls.  Therefore, my first effort will be educating parents in this regard. I also want to transfer my knowledge and skills to students and teachers in a proper way to improve the system of education in my area. I want to stay connected to the parent of my students to informing them what is going on in the class. I also try my best to provide information and transfer my ideas about their children’s progress. I also want to bring a change in education system by introducing different teaching methodologies and teaching aids to make the lesson interesting for my students. May Allah Almightily guide me in the best way, Ameen!

MY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE
I am a government school teacher and teach biology and chemistry. There are almost more than 500 students in my school.
Location    My school is located in Azad Jamu Kashmir (AJ&K)  distt: Kotli  tehsil Nakial and village Datote. Nakial has a vast range of forest. It is hilly area but it is a very beautiful place.
Building:
In past, we had small building having only four rooms but now we have a new building with 7 rooms but it is not sufficient for the need of the school.
Medium of instruction
Medium of instruction is Urdu but we teach English as a subject.
Staff members:
In my school, there are three primary teachers for class 1 to 5, three junior teachers for class 6 to 8 and two science teachers for secondary classes. A computer instructor is recently appointed and a PTI for sports .Head of my school is very nice leady. She is very cooperative with staff members and actively takes part in all school activities. She tries her best to improve school curriculum. Her first priority is that her staff members to learnt more effective skills and teaching methods to make classroom environment more informative and pleasant for students and make study easy for them.
Extracurricular activities:
In my school we also arrange co-curricular activities for students. We conduct vocational classes like knitting, sewing and cooking etc. They also take part in debates and sports. Besides this, we lack many advance technology. We try our best to improve our education. We also hold parents teacher meeting to share information, ideas and try our best to bring awareness among them.

NEEDS OF MY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE
We lack basic technology such as my school has no computer, or biology and chemistry labs. Science laboratories are broadly considered as a key component of science instruction since most of the science field such as physics, chemistry, or biology. Library which is important component of institute is also missing.
We are also facing the problem of building. The school building does not meet our needs. A single room for strength of 40 or 50 students is not sufficient. We can deliver only lectures but students cannot be engaged in practical work. As a result, their capabilities are not fully developed and properly exposed.
We have poor washroom facilities. Our school has no proper supply of electricity .A girls’ hostel is also needed. A little budget is allocated to the school by the government official which is the biggest problem of the school.

NON SIBI

I always feel pleasure whenever I do something good for others. An incident has been stored in my memory when we friends helped a needy girl. When we were in F.Sc, I met a girl who needed some money to purchase a schoolbook. We collected donation to purchase book for her. Even now we have started giving awareness at community level. We made an organization at our community level through which we collect funds and then utilize this to purchase books, clothes etc. Although this is done at lower level, this is first step towards a noble cause. As we collect money from each member of organization, so every member is deeply interested in this activities.

We are doing all this at community level. Now I want to take to my school and encourage them to help others to develop each and everyone in the community.

MaxWarburg Courage Reflection

Max Warburg courage curriculum was founded in 1991 to honor the life of Max  a courageous young boy .Max story was full of courage. Its story encourage us to face every problem in our life bravely. Till his death he showed a lot of courage, even on the death bed, during his last moments, he was working with his father He was suffering from leukemia& his spleen was in busted form but still he was energetic and hopfull.we was an ideal students for teacher, role model for friends, and identity for his parents. Here we meets Max mother she is brave lady, her attitude impress us.After  his death Max parents felt that max story could be an example for other children and with the help of Boston public school administration they published Max story. So this was very helpful for students to story writing .And I think that story writing exercise is an effective and creative too ,so we can easily implement this in ours school to encourage children.

By Maria Zaib and Shamaila Akram
We want to give activity based education using different activities like chart making, field trips, group discussion, lab practicals, models, audio and video aids. These goals will help us to enhance the traditional education system.
Target group:-Students of grade 9th and 10th.
Objectives: Developing environmental awareness in students. For schools that have limited resources on site.Field trips to natural areas can be an effective learning experience for students.
To enhance collaborate efforts
  • Project based assignment
  • Result in learning that is creative, meaningful and authentic.
  • We can manage our work in the following parameters.

Overview: To reduce anxiety a pre-visit lesson can help to make the most of the field trip experience. During field trip we can collect soil and water of different places, then we can analyze pH, water quality, impurities of water, soil types etc. We can also show them the flora and fauna of different places. Group work is an effective method of teaching. Students sit together, topics are given to them and they share their ideas about those topics. A good starter activity is to assign pairs of students to research or problem and report their research to the  remaining group.
Material required: Charts, audio and video aids, pH papers, transport facility, refreshment etc.
Procedure:
Field Experience
  • Students will be taught about pH
  • Students will travel to a site for 2 visits
  • Collecting data on pH, soil, water quality
Group Work

  1. Science Subject is highly practical and you have chosen a good MAP however, there is still a need of a modern sample lesson that will reflect your way of teaching and methodology.
